LadySong's Black Magic

Birthdate: 5/17/2011
Heritage: 5/8 Bolivian
Registration: ARI Registered
ARI #: 31685078
Color: True Black

Type: Male Suri
Status: Unproven

Description: LadySong's Black Magic was originally listed as "Mary's Magic," but when we went to register him we learned that "Mary" has staked out a claim on all "Mary" names, so Magic has now become LadySong's Black Magic. New Name, but Same Great Boy!

Magic may have had a tough start in life, being a premature, vet-delivered dystocia and having a maiden dam whose milk didn't come in for well over 24 hours post-birth, and whose idea of standing still for nursing was to prance around trying to watch the little being trying to get under her, but he has rebounded nicely. Magic's dam is now nursing well. Sweet thing that he is, though, even though my bottle offerings quickly became passe, he did take a few more bottles from me to make me feel useful.

Born at only 11 pounds, he gained steadily each day. Mary's Magic (so-named because my vet, Mary, had to work her magic to save his life during the birth process) has excellent conformation and the nicest TB suri locks I've ever seen, a sweet and forgiving nature, and a zest for life that is a joy to watch. We've moved him to our foundation herd page because we don't plan to part with him any time soon, but we thought you would enjoy learning a bit about him as he makes his way through his first few months of life.

NOTE: Magic had his first shearing in 2013 and wow! is that fleece fantastic! I sold some right off his back, lol. While his micron has tested to be fairly average (based on a sample pulled out of the bag at random, so who knows where it was shorn from), his luster and lock structure are incredible.

Independence Day, 2008 was an unforgettable experience at LadySong Farm! We'd had no idea that Bon di Catia was pregnant, since I'd intended to hold her open because we have no unrelated male to use for her. Finding her celebrating the 4th of July by delivering a beautiful female cria was a jaw-dropping experience for me! Finding the cria to be a suri doubled the shock (although what did I expect -- I mostly have suri boys!), but realizing that what I at first thought to be a lovely fawn gal was actually light rose gray was the kicker! The breeding may have been accidental (at least on my part), but I'd repeat it in an instant to get the same result.

Indy made her show debut in the 2009 Western New York Alpaca Show where she was awarded a second place (behind herdmate LadySong's Thank Heaven). The judge particularly liked her beautiful face, and had a difficult time deciding which of the two girls to place first, so Indy did very well!

Fortune comes to us courtesy of Mahart Alpacas and Alpacas at Suri Hill in Oregon, where he has produced some exceptional offspring. He is half-brother to Virgo el Boliviano and Silvestre, both highly renown silver gray suris. Fortune's own offspring include nearly 50% TB, and we look forward to bringing his gloriously blue-black hue into our herd. During shearing, it became evident that this macho has superior uniformity in fineness, length and style. It was difficult to decide what to put into a "seconds" bag because everything was really nice, with practically NO guard hair or coarse fibers evident anywhere! If uniformity is important to you, this macho is worth a second look!

Fortune is also extremely fertile. Out of his first 3 breedings at LadySong, he is 3 for 3 fertilization on the first breeding, so if time is important to you, this macho is a treasure!

Fortune's sire, Black Debut, and his dam, Danza, have both produced champions. Fortune himself was awarded
